Honorable Kim H. Goldberger

Retention year: 1990
Recommendation: Retain

Judicial Performance Commission’s recommendation: Should Be Retained.

Judge Goldberger was appointed to the county court in October 1975. He practiced law for three years before that. Personal activities include teaching at the National Judicial College, participating in service clubs and community events, and assisting in high school mock trials.

Goldberger is a county court judge hearing civil traffic and misdemeanor criminal cases, and felony preliminary hearings.

Attorneys, litigants, jurors, and law enforcement officers substantially recommended Goldberger’s retention. However, a majority of those who responded from the Probation Department and court staff recommended not to retain him. Responses from some prosecutors and probation officers indicate Goldberger on occasion enters into discussions of his cases with his staff or attorneys without the other party present.

He is knowledgeable, and in his courtroom he is regarded as approachable, friendly and understanding. He demonstrates creative and innovative court practices. He is actively updating and streamlining court procedures.
