The Second Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge Lawrence A. Manzanares BE RETAINED.

Judge Manzanares was appointed to the bench in 1992. He currently hears civil cases and in the past two years his workload has been split evenly between criminal and domestic disturbance cases. His previous assignments include traffic, general sessions and protective orders.

Judge Manzanares graduated from Harvard Law School in 1982 and was admitted to the bar that year. He obtained his undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Denver. Between 1982 and 1992 Judge Manzanares practiced law with several private firms.

Courtroom observation and written materials submitted to the Commission showed that Judge Manzanares conducts his court with courtesy, dignity and equal treatment of all people.

In a Commission survey, attorneys voted 83.3% to retain, 13.9% not to retain, and 2.8% had no opinion. Court employees voted 82.4% to retain, 5.9% to not retain, and 11.7% had no opinion.
