Honorable Brian T. Campbell

Retention year: 1998
Recommendation: Retain

The Second Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge Brian T. Campbell BE RETAINED.

Judge Campbell graduated from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois in 1970 and received his law degree from the University of Colorado in December 1972. He was admitted to the Colorado Bar in October 1973. Prior to his appointment, Judge Campbell was an associate with the law firm of Gorsuch, Kirgis, Campbell, Walker and Grover for approximately six years. He served as a law clerk for U.S. district judge Fred N. Winner.

Judge Campbell was appointed to the bench on March 10, 1980. He currently serves in the general sessions division of the county court, involving Denver municipal ordinance violations. Judge Campbell has also served in the juvenile court, traffic division, state criminal division, civil and environmental court and protective orders court and has been the presiding judge of the county court.

Judge Campbell feels that the Denver County Court functions well as a "people's court," and he works to adopt more ways to make the Court more "user friendly." Judge Campbell volunteers for bar association activities, church activities and charitable group activities.

Attorneys surveyed by the Commission voted 98% for retention, and 2% had no opinion.
