The Twelfth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance unanimously recommends that Judge Amanda Pearson BE RETAINED.

Judge Pearson attended Adams State College from September 1980 to May of 1984 where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Government. She was admitted to the University of Colorado School of Law in September of 1984 and received her JD degree in May of 1987. She was admitted to the Colorado Bar on October 21st 1987 and to the U.S. District Court in February of 1995.

Judge Pearson was employed by the District Attorney for the Twelfth Judicial District from October 1987 to February 1989. She was in private practice for three years prior to being appointed as County Judge for Saguache County on March 23, 1998. Judge Pearson was also appointed as Alamosa Municipal Judge in September of 1991, a position she currently holds.

Judge Pearson states that consistency and fairness are her priorities in performing her role as a judge. She also tries to consider each individual's circumstance in reaching decisions.

Judge Pearson is concerned with making sure all persons who appear before her understand the legal process, especially those litigants who appear without lawyers. Judge Pearson involves herself in community activities, but is careful not to compromise her objectivity and impartiality on the bench.

Of the attorneys responding to the survey, 100% recommended that Judge Pearson be retained in office. Of the non-attorneys responding to the survey, 82% recommended retention, 13% recommended non-retention, and 5% had no opinion.
