Judge Fieldman has a criminal court docket and is the Chief County Court Judge. He is commended for his expertise on the law and for his ability to listen well to those in his courtroom.  Judge Fieldman makes himself extremely accessible to attorneys, he has an extensive history of mentoring attorneys that appear in his courtroom, and he is a self-reflective judge who aims for the highest level of performance.  There were concerns raised regarding Judge Fieldman interjecting himself into plea negotiations, losing his patience and unnecessarily scheduling trials for those individuals facing more serious charges in District Court.  Judge Fieldman is aware of these perceptions and will pay attention to these criticisms to make certain cases continue to be handled appropriately. He is efficient in the day-to-day management of his courtroom, is fair and consistent in his rulings, and treats all counsel and litigants with equal dignity and respect. Judge Fieldman is also very active in serving on boards of community organizations.
