Public Input

The State Commission on Judicial Performance seeks citizen input on Colorado’s Judicial Performance Evaluation system prior to requesting the legislature renew the program’s governing statute (CRS 13-5.5-101 et. seq.). In Colorado, Judicial Performance Commissions perform evaluations of judges prior to retention elections. Commissions evaluate a judge’s integrity, legal knowledge, communications skills, temperament, administration, and service to the public. The evaluations are published in the Colorado State Ballot Information Booklet, the "Blue Book," and online at www.ojpe.org.

The State Commission is charged with providing guidance to local district commissions on their evaluations and oversees the goals and objectives of the overall program. In that role, State Commission members seek feedback on the existing program and suggestions for program improvement moving forward. Commissioners see the reauthorization of the program by the legislature as an opportunity to get citizen input and make adjustments to improve the program. The Commission will be taking citizen’s feedback on-line through mid-January.

To submit your comments regarding the program online go to at www.ojpe.org and click on the "Citizens Feedback" button at the top of the page. Or respond to an online survey here: Citizens JPE Program Feedback Survey 2016

Commissioners look forward to hearing from you! Please let us know how we are doing, what we can do better, and how to better serve you in being an informed voter when judges are on the ballot.
